Feasibility Study - Independent analysis

What is a Feasibility Study

A Feasibility Study provides a third-party, independent analysis of a potential opportunity such as new technology, business expansions, or new business development.  A well-prepared Feasibility Study will provide a comprehensive analysis of the opportunity including:

  1. Evaluation of the Project
  2. Market Feasibility
  3. Financial / Economic Feasibility
  4. Management & Organization
  5. Technical Feasibility

Who can benefit from a Feasibility Study?

We specialize in creating Feasibility Studies to fix a range of needs including:

  • Internal project review and validation
  • Third-party analysis for investors and debt providers
  • USDA Grant Applications

USDA Grant Applications

There are several USDA programs that can provide support for new technologies, project expansions, and new businesses within agriculture, biofuels, and other bio-conversion applications.

For many of these programs, a rigorous Feasibility Study is a required for funding.  It is important to have a well-structured Feasibility Study that evaluates the project and provides the required outputs that are necessary to support the USDA grant applications.  Some of the USDA programs that involve a Feasibility Study include:

  • Rural Energy for America Program Renewable Energy (REAP): The REAP program provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems.  REAP applications can require a third-party Feasibility Study.  Equinox has worked with several clients to complete extensive analysis of their projects which have contributed to successful REAP projects. REAP applications deadlines vary by project type, with one key date typically March 31 each year.

  • Value-Added Producer Grant (VAPG):  The VAPG program helps agricultural producers enter value-added activities to generate new products, create and expand marketing opportunities, and increase producer income.  Two types of VAPG grants are Working Capital and Planning grants.  Working capital grants applications often require a third-party Feasibility Study.  Planning grants can provide financial assistance to help fund a Feasibility Study.  Equinox has worked with many clients to prepare Feasibility Studies for their VAPG projects including both Working Capital and Planning grants. VAPG Applications are due annually - this year due April 17, 2025.

A USDA Feasibility Study typically includes proforma financials including income statement and balance sheet projections which are required to support the grant application requirements.
